INDRA
Indra is a global leader in smart mobility and ticketing technologies, delivering some of the world’s most advanced fare collection and passenger access systems. With more than 2,500 mobility projects delivered across more than 50 countries and solutions operating in over 100 cities worldwide, Indra helps transit agencies and operators create safer, more sustainable, and seamless mobility experiences.
Every day, Indra’s ticketing technology supports millions of passenger journeys worldwide through large-scale, mission-critical systems that process more than 35 million transactions daily. Its solutions combine Account-Based Ticketing (ABT), EMV open payments, Pay-As-You-Go, Mobile Ticketing, MaaS integration, and frictionless travel concepts to enable truly connected, passenger-centric transportation networks.
Today, Indra is one of the few companies worldwide capable of delivering and operating complete end-to-end fare collection ecosystems, from customer-facing devices and validation equipment to multimodal back-office platforms, clearing systems, financial management, and long-term operational services.
In North America, Indra continues to strengthen its position as a trusted transit technology partner through major fare collection and passenger experience modernization programs. Most recently, the company was selected by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) to design, manufacture, and deploy a new generation of Customer Terminals across the Washington, D.C., Metro network. These modern, mobile-inspired devices are designed to enhance the customer experience, replacing traditional ticket vending machines with intuitive, user-centric technology. Indra is also modernizing the St. Louis Metro fare collection system, including the deployment of a new generation of ticket vending machines currently being rolled out across the Metro Transit network. Together, these projects reinforce the company’s growing presence in the United States, where transit agencies are increasingly adopting account-based, customer-focused fare collection technologies.
Beyond North America, Indra’s recent achievements further reinforce its position among the world’s leading ticketing providers. The company was awarded a landmark long-term contract by Transport for London (TfL) to operate, maintain, and evolve the ticketing and access control systems of one of the world’s largest and most complex urban transportation networks. This milestone builds on another major international success: its appointment as the long-term technology partner for Ireland’s National Transport Authority (NTA) and its Next Generation Ticketing program, a nationwide account-based platform that will integrate bus, rail, tram, and future metro services into a seamless mobility ecosystem.
Indra’s technology powers award-winning ticketing programs such as T-mobilitat in Barcelona and Catalonia, one of Europe’s largest multimodal and interoperable fare collection platforms, integrating more than 70 transport operators into a single passenger-centric ecosystem.
The company is also delivering advanced ticketing projects across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America, including systems for Madrid, Lisbon, Amsterdam, Riyadh, Cairo, Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai, Kolkata, Santiago, and Buenos Aires. Its latest deployments incorporate cloud-native architectures, artificial intelligence, natural language interaction, contactless access, and account-based fare management, setting new standards for accessibility, efficiency, and passenger experience.
