Matthew Hagen is Senior Vice President and Head of Emerging Segment Sales for Visa’s North America region. In this role he leads the team responsible for developing new acceptance, selling value added services and expanding payment flows within new and under penetrated industry segments across the merchant ecosystem.

Mr. Hagen joined Visa in 2015 and prior to his current role was the general manager for a diverse portfolio of merchant industries that included Telecom, Cable, Restaurant, Insurance, Gaming, Fuel and Convenience Stores within North America. In this role he and his team were responsible for developing and executing the partnerships that expand acceptance usage, grow co-brands, and develop money movement solutions with the most influential merchants in each industry. During Mr. Hagen’s eight years with the company, he also led Visa’s Global Co-brand and Partnership Development organization. He designed Visa’s global co-brand go-to-market strategy and led the team responsible for Visa’s co-brand development and program management.

Prior to Visa, Mr. Hagen spent over ten years in various leadership positions at American Express. During his tenure he led business development for the flagship U.S. Consumer business, co-brand portfolio management, business planning for the Consumer Services business, and was a project leader within the American Express Strategic Planning Group. Additionally, Mr. Hagen’s professional experience includes consulting within Accenture’s financial services practice.

Mr. Hagen holds a Bachelor of Science from Missouri University of Science and Technology and an MBA from Cornell University.
