Tom Prestia is TransLink’s Transportation Systems Strategist, responsible for the planning and implementation of broad transportation and transit technology initiatives for TransLink and Metro Vancouver. Tom has over 25 years experience in transportation, focusing on ITS and fare collection. As a consultant, Tom was part of the original PRESTO launch in the Greater Toronto Area, contributed to the early phases of Clipper 2.0 in the Bay Area, and was the requirements and implementation lead for TransLink’s Compass fare system. Tom eventually joined TransLink to plan the future of the system he helped deliver and extend it into new areas like contactless payment, multi-modal travel, and hands-free faregate access.
