Scoring Boston Stadium’s Winning Goal in Special Event Transit Ticketing

As the 2026 World Cup came to the US, Keolis — the MBTA’s Operating & Maintenance partner of Greater Boston’s Commuter Rail network — faced a daunting challenge: operating a special stadium train service to deliver 40k journeys to/from a stadium >20 miles from Boston, on 7 distinct match days. In this session, Keolis will share lessons learned from the extensive ticketing preparations through day-of delivery, including training a dedicated team of temporary ticketing staff, deploying temporary ticket validation hardware, supporting more than 100k ticket sales, pivoting fare policy to meet evolving customer needs, and standing up on-site sales mid-event.
